Tadej Pogačar was often seen fighting as a lone wolf at Tour de France 2022, against the tour winner Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma). Nevertheless, the UAE Team Emirates rider never gave in and continued to strive against the Jumbo-Visma duo, Vingegaard, and Wout Van Aert. On the other hand, Vingegaard always had the support of Vout Van Aert.
Had things been different, Pogačar might have been wearing the winner’s crown today. Keeping this in mind, the UAE Team Emirates has decided to sign on Domen Novak. The Slovenian previously rode with Bahrain Victorious. The 27-year-old has been making rounds with his exceptional performance. in Giro d’Italia 2022, he stood second at stage 20. At the Tour of Slovenia, he took the third position overall. His list of achievements does not end here, in 2019 he became the Slovenian road champion.
Novak feels honored with the opportunity that is being presented to him, He told the press:
It has been my dream to ride for UAE Team Emirates alongside a champion like Tadej Pogačar and so many other good riders. Now the dream has came true, I’m honoured and grateful for the trust they have shown me and I’m eager to begin the journey
Mauro Gianetti, The team principal, was also quick to praise Novak, giving the impression that the team is ready to invest in the rider and turn him into a much better version of what he is today:
Novak is a rider who has shown good progression in his years as a professional and we feel he can provide good qualities to the team, especially in the mountains. He has many years under his belt at World Tour level and we believe he has a lot to offer our team in the years ahead
