After being inflicted with multiple life-threatening injuries and going through surgeries, Egan Bernal has finally left the Clínica Universidad de La Sabana, he is in a very stable condition now and will be doing his rehabilitation from home. This is a very major step towards his recovery and the Ineos Grenadiers rider is feeling more positive than ever!
Bernal showed great strength and courage, as he remained 14 days in the hospital. His determination and support from Clínica Universidad de La Sabana paved the path towards his recovery. The hospital and Ineos Grenadiers posted the picture of Bernal with the staff, Bernal is certainly looking a lot better.
Egan Bernal was on the verge of death, he was dangerously close to becoming paraplegic but he survived. Now that he is out of danger, it will be a while till he is fully recovered.
In a social media post, Egan Bernal wrote,
I almost killed myself, but you know what? I am grateful to God for putting me through this test. It is going to be the toughest race, but I have had a group of excellent people around me.
So now to recover and make this another… I’M BACK!! And let’s rock.
As we can see in the photograph taken above, Bernal seems cheerful, although he is wearing a neck brace he is still giving a thumbs up.
Clínica Universidad de La Sabana made the following official medical update,
At this time, the patient is in the third phase of the trauma, ready to start his rehabilitation process. He has no complications and all his injuries are stable and in the process of recovery.
What’s next for Egan Bernal? A long walk to recovery for sure, but he will be back with a bang, we know that for certain. Ineos Grenadiers is very supportive of Bernal and both of them will work together for an amazing comeback.
