The team for the Tour de France of Jumbo-Visma has been made public. Primož Roglič, Jonas Vingegaard and Wout van Aert are all included in the team officially. The management team of Jumbo-Visma made their ambitions clear in their statement:
We have several ambitions, so we have chosen riders who are the best at different terrains
While Rohan Dennis is dropped from the team’s roaster because he got sick with a stomach bug, Sepp Kuss has made it to the team for The Tour. Kuss was also seen in Tour de Suisse. Other names include Steven Kruijswijk, Tiesj Benoot, Christophe Laporte and Nathan Van Hooydonck.
At first, the team wanted to release the names one by one in batches due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the team at Tour de Suisse. Anyhow, the plan was changed and all the names were released altogether on Tuesday. However, no commitments to a reserve list were made.
Kuss remains the only rider selected from Tour de Suisse. While the team’s Gc leaders will be Vingegaard and Roglič. Their goal will be to displace Tadej Pogačar from the top podium. They both delivered an outstanding performance at the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Although Van Aert is in support of his team’s goals, his focus is on the green jersey.
Jumbo-Visma has brilliantly balanced their team. For the mountains, they have Kuss and Kruijswijk, while Benoot provides expertise for short climbs and flat areas. Laporte and Van Hooydonck also perform exceptionally well on the flats. They will prove good support for Benoot.
