No box required. We flew from Singapore to Jakarta. Like on all airports they warn you about the possibility that 'no boxed' bicycle is not allowed on some airlines. It went perfect. Just wrap the tubes with carton, deflate the tyres for 80% and make sure that your wheels can turn.
