Mavic Ksyrium
If you are to talk about the Mavic Ksyrium as a series, there is nothing but good things to say. This is because each time Mavic comes out with a new model, they appear to have improved perfection. As any cyclist who has owned a set of Ksyrium will tell you, this is not empty flattery.
These actually make really good race bikes as they are quite aerodynamic, not to mention light. Due to the minimal drag, it is quite easy to accelerate with wheelset. Therefore, if you are looking for a nice lead, the Ksyrium series will help you get it.
Another thing that is quite noticeable about the bikes is the level of stiffness. The Pro model, in particular, is especially known for this. This makes it an absolute beast at climbing, making it an exhilarating experience. The stiffness on the Pro is largely helped by the Zicral spokes offered by Mavic.
I was also impressed by the overall durability of the wheelsets. You can really put them through their paces and not have to deal with any scratches or damage. Considering what you have to pay for these wheelsets, it is a good thing. By no means are the Ksyrium range the most expensive. The models do tend to veer from mid-range to expensive, nonetheless.
In terms of weaknesses, the only point to really discuss is the stiffness that may prove to be a bit challenging for cyclists who are a bit lighter. It can make heading up slopes a bit difficult.
+Pros:
- Aerodynamic
- Light
- Quite stiff
- Durable
-Cons:
- A bit expensive
- Can be difficult for lighter riders
The Verdict
If you want perfect, you are going to be able to get quite close to it with the Mavic Ksyrium series.
There is a lot to choose from but regardless of the model, you will be able to get value for your money.
