For the most part, the Vitus Sentier MTBs are excellent on the trail, with some choice Shimano componentry that impresses, considering the price range. You won’t have to spend much to get some good performance on the trail, and you’ll hardly have a thing to complain about.
The Vitus Sentier bikes certainly have a lot to give mountain bike riders, but it may be better geared for the beginner or the occasional rider. Of course, considering these are mostly budget options, they do certainly perform better than most in their class.
We tried them out on medium to harsh trails, and they held up well on most of them. These bikes has excellent travel, and the Shimano and SRAM componentry were impressive for the price tag. However, we did have issues with the forks. They lacked a certain stiffness for a mountain bike range.
Other than that, every model we tried handled well. These bikes are nimble and agile, and pick up some excellent speeds on medium terrain. Overall, these bikes can take a hit, so you can be sure they’ll hold up over time. Ideal for new riders.
+Pros:
Fast and light overall
Nimble and agile handling
Quality SRAM and Shimano componentry
Picks up speed easily on medium terrain
Ideal for novice trail riders
-Cons:
Not so great for the more serious rider
Forks not stiff enough
The Verdict
Considering these bikes are more ideal for novices, they have some pretty good performance and componentry, certainly a good budget buy.
The Vitus Sentier XC and trail bikes are definitely good quality for their class. If you’re looking for a budget buy to cut your teeth on trail riding, these might do. They’ll take a bit of damage without going bust, and they’re ideal for starting or for the occasional treks.
