Peter Sagan, the Slovakian Champion finally joins his team TotalEnergies after being slowed down due to the COVID-19 exposure. Sagan resumed his training in the form of a six-hour ride in the training camp in Calpe, Spain. This is the second time he has tested positive for COVID-19 since last year, and this also ruined the team kit unveiling in France that was scheduled for January 10, but unfortunately, Peter Sagan could not make it.
Peter Sagan along with his brother moved from Bora-Hansgrohe to TotalEnergies, the motivation of both the brothers remains sky-high. The rules of quarantine have also changed since Spring 2021, this time he was directed by the French Health Authorities towards isolation at home for five days, he spent his isolation period at his home in Monte Carlo.
During a Twitter feed, Peter Sagan said,
I went for my first bike ride of the year with this group of old and new friends.
This is not the first time that Team TotalEnergies are training at Calpe, Spain. There was a training camp back in 2021 too. Peter Sagan was also aiming to make his debut at the Vuelta a San Juan in Argentina, it was scheduled from January 30 to February 5 but has now been canceled indefinitely due to the re-escalation of the coronavirus pandemic.
Peter Sagan was part of an esteemed photoshoot with his teammates where they were unveiling the 2022 test kits and Sagan was showing his threads as the road champion of Slovakia. This was before he tested positive for COVID-19, since then the team and he isolated themselves and presented the test kits via social media.
Peter Sagan is currently focused on the Spring events, he is most excited for Milan-San Remo and desperately wants to conquer it as he came fourth the last time around. His main goal lies towards his team, he wants to see it grow. Total Energies still needs an invitation to the Giro d’Italia where Sagan won a stage in 2021.
His plans for altitude training in Colombia, South America are also canceled till further notice. Peter Sagan will also reportedly train in the Canary Islands, for Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var. We wish him the best of luck and can’t wait to see where this season takes him.
