Sarah Gigante joined Team Movistar to make a grand return to cycling, and it seems that she took her first major win while wearing the Movistar colors. Although Sarah joined way back in March, she has been making tremendous progress since then.
With her impressive solo attack, Sarah Gigante earned her first European victory, and that too at the Emakumeen Nafarroako. The way she showcased her skills in the foothills of Northern Spain is a prime example of her dedication.

Sarah shared the podium with another one of her teammates Paula Patiño who finished in third place. Apart from that, Gigante had to fend off Veronica Ewers (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB) who finished in second place, but also kept the Movistar riders on their feet.
Filled with excitement, Gigante said post-race:
It’s absolutely amazing. I’m in shock, it’s crazy. I’ve never been in the top-10 of a European race, so making my first top-10 a victory is amazing.
The whole team was so, so awesome…This is beyond my dreams; I could never wake up thinking I could win this, and I’m going to really enjoy it.
During the start of the race, the whole situation was tense, and as Gigante was part of a select group, she had to revise and change her tactics. The select group contained Mavi Garcia (UAE Team ADQ), Kristen Faulkner (Team BikeExchange-Jayco), and Veronica Ewers (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB).
Gigante found an advantage, exposed via an opening and when she took the advantage, it only went further in. During the last 21km, she fended various attacks from the leading group while also leading them. The last two climbs at the end of the day proved tiresome, but Gigante still conquered.
When the descent came, she opened up to her advantage and furiously rode to victory. She tried hiding her face through the excitement but her emotions gave it away. This was a spectacular show of power by Gigante!
