GT Grade Review
GT Bicycles is well known for creating some great bikes throughout the last four decades, including one of the first BMX race bikes in the 1970s, made by the man who gave GT its name, Gary Turner. Now, their range of Grade bikes comes with something for everybody.
The most basic model comes with Shimano Claris parts and alloy frames and forks. Top line models have Shimano Ultegra components and full carbon frames and forks. We’d say those are some good specs given the price range of these bikes.
We took these bikes down some known roads and trails, and while we had to knock a point off for poor speeds on climbs and the heavier weights on low end models, they performed quite well on gravel and pavement. If you want some heavy-duty endurance out of your bike, go for the Grade Carbon Ultegra. Overall, even the budget bikes in this range handled smoothly, with barely any major vibration to speak of.
+Pros:
- Smooth riding
- Versatile – handles gravel, pavement, and dirt fairly well
- Top line models are light and full carbon
- Great for endurance and adventure
- Relaxed geometry
-Cons:
- Poor speed on the climbs
- Heavier bottom line models
The Verdict
A great range of adventure bikes for all-purpose riding on pavement or gravel, and suitable for endurance riding.
The GT Grade bikes have a wide range of low to midrange road bikes to suit your needs. We enjoyed getting to review these bikes, and we would definitely recommend them for on and off road riding. The ones we rode were stable, offered good control, and handled varying terrain without much trouble.
