Soltec Team-UCI, a Women’s cycling team from Spain just landed a contract with the Olympic champion in women’s road racing and mathematician, Anna Kiesenhofer. Soltec decided to take Anna on board ahead of the Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta scheduled for September.
The 31-year-old joined team Lotto Soudal in 2017, and ever since she hasn’t been a part of a professional team for racing. Nonetheless, she took a solo win in Turkey last year, winning the road race fair and square. Soltec has had an eye out for the champion ever since, but, it is not yet clear whether the contract extends beyond the year 2022 or not.
Marcelino Oliver, the team manager talked about how this will be a turning point for the team:
Kiesenhofer’s arrival marks a turning point for Soltec Team,It has been, so far, three years of hard work to create a solid, ambitious project that would allow us to aspire to great goals, and its arrival gives us the definitive impulse
Oliver continued to praise Anna saying:
Kiesenhofer is the ideal person to lead this [Ceratizit] Challenge by La Vuelta, someone who perfectly represents many of the sporting and human values that this team has always wanted to instil in its members. I admire her work ethic, her perseverance, her honesty, and her professionalism, her sacrifice. Her cycling mentality fits ideally with us.
The team is making its premiere at Ceratizit Challenge. Last year Anna announced that she will be racing individually sported by Swiss Krono Group up until the year 2024.
